Azerspace/Africasat-1 -the first telecommunications satellite ever deployed by Azerbaijan- is going through its pre-start test at the Guiana Space Center near Korou, French Guiana.
According to a report by Arianespace, the Azerbaijani communications satellite has been moved to the preparatory site where it take on fuel for its maneuvering thrusters.
An Ariane 5ECA carrier rocket will loft Azerspace/Africasat-1 into geostationary orbit on February 7, 2013. The Azerbaijin satellite will temporarily occupy the 46 degrees East orbital slot, which was leased from Malaysian satellite operator MeaSat. Its permanent position, however, will be at 43.2, 58.5 and 96 degrees East longitude.
